Get To Know Us

Hey you, yeah you – Welcome to Michigan Hot Yoga! We’re here to make you feel at home in a yoga studio. In fact, our studios were created with the sole purpose of helping you become the happiest, healthiest, fittest version of yourself in a supportive, inclusive, and non- competitive environment. We strive to capture the spirit of yoga, barre, and aerial yoga, while making it engaging, challenging, fun, and accessible. We believe that yoga is what you make it. Our instructors pull from a variety of modern and traditional yoga, mindfulness, cardiovascular conditioning and plyometrics to design sequences providing you with the strength, reflection and acceptance you need to face the day ahead. We sincerely hope that you will grow your practice here, as well as make lifelong new friends.

Transform at MI Hot Yoga

Hot yoga, when done regularly can be life-changing. You will find yourself craving better food, sleeping more soundly, and feeling a general sense of health and well-being. Hot yoga de-stresses, delights, and detoxifies the body through perspiration and increased blood flow. Our classes will help you become stronger, calmer, more toned, less stressed, and we promise to always warm you up on a cold day. Whatever your age, injury, or prior yoga experience (if any), MI Hot Yoga has a class that will benefit your body, mind and spirit.

How We Started

I opened East Lansing Hot Yoga in the fall of 2011, weary of driving sixty miles for my hot yoga fix, and hopeful the Lansing community would embrace its first studio dedicated to practicing in a hot room. We opened with just three teachers, myself included, and for the first few months, life was a whirlwind of steady growth, each of us teaching doubles and triples more days than not, and a whole lot of learning! By the end of the first year we’d added several more teachers, music, sixty and seventy-five minute classes (all classes were ninety minutes in the beginning ), a studio in Mt. Pleasant, and we were planning our first teacher training. Abbey Weston and Maggie Olds were in that first YTT, and Samantha Corbit was in the second. In the summer of 2013, Abbey approached me about putting a studio in the space above Kewpees, her family’s restaurant in Washington Square. We opened Firefly Hot Yoga Bar in January of 2014, and two years and a month later, Samantha and I opened Haslett Hot Yoga on Haslett Road, two blocks from her home. In January, 2018, Maggie and I opened Lansing Hot Yoga on Elmwood, just a few miles from her home in Grand Ledge. Then in September, 2018, I sold Mt. Pleasant Hot Yoga to Alison Miller, who changed the name to Yoga on Main. I’m thrilled to turn the reins over a passionate yogi who calls Mt. Pleasant home and will give it the love and attention it deserves. Please stop in for a class on your way up north.
